Are You An Annoying Co-Worker?

Posted by

Often, we spend more time at our workplace than we do at home, and not much else can make your work day feel longer than having to work with an annoying co-worker. Everyone has, at some point or the other, worked with someone that they just really can't stand. Whether you like them or not, you will have to work with them in groups and listen to them day in and day out.

One of the first steps in dealing with an annoying co-worker is to not be one. My father used to say that there was a crazy person on every public bus, and if you can't spot them, maybe it is you. I think the same thing applies to the workplace community. Often, it is hard to tell if you are the annoying co-worker.

So, how can you tell if you are annoying everyone in your office? Here are some traits that could tip you off:

  1. You complain. About everything. Loudly.
  2. You never miss a chance to suck up to the boss.
  3. You gossip about other in your office and even gossip about clients.
  4. You have bad body odor.
  5. You wear too much cologne or perfume.
  6. Your work space is very messy.
  7. Often, you just click “reply all” because you don't know the difference.
  8. You forward stupid chain letters.
  9. You believe everything you read on the internet, and insist on telling everyone.
  10. You make people look at hundreds of pictures of your kids or pets.
  11. You burn popcorn on a daily basis.
  12. You tell dirty or racist jokes.
  13. You often say mean things followed by, “just kidding, can't you take a joke?”
  14. You tattle to the boss.
  15. You steal peoples food from the kitchen.
  16. You talk on your cell phone loudly.
  17. You have an annoying ring tone.
  18. You take credit for other people's work
  19. You are often late.
  20. You are bad at your job

If you are guilty of most of these, then you are probably the annoying co-worker. But for most of us, that isn't the case. Are there other things that co-workers do that annoy you? If so, feel free to add to the list in the comment section.
