  • PDS Tech, Inc is seeking a Health & Safety Manager in Charlotte, NC

    Description:

    • Support all EH&S programs and issues to ensure the protection of employees from industrial accidents, occupational and environmental health hazards, and fire.

    • Design, development, interpretation, recommendation, and compliance with environmental regulations and/or company policy in conjunction with one or more of the following areas: Workers Compensation, Occupational Heath & Safety, Medical Assistance or Environmental Engineering

    • Leads team of intermediate to experienced EH&S generalist professionals, setting objectives and guiding others on the development of critical EH&S programs for appropriate lines of business.

    • Interfaces with local EH&S authorities and coordinates with business partners in the development of strategic EH&S initiatives with the goal of enhancing EH&S process and program performance.

    • Reporting to the Plant Manager, the EHS Manager is responsible for leadership support to oversee the Environmental, Health and Safety programs.

    • This individual will manage/lead the EHS function, providing strategic direction, leadership, and technical support to develop and advance EHS programs with a primary focus on compliance with all local, state, federal, and Carrier EHS related requirements.

    • The individual will ensure seamless implementation of EHS standards, practices, systems and tools, while serving as the general subject matter authority for the EHS operations within the plant.

    • This position will require a highly energetic, self-driven, and dedicated EHS professional.

    • Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to excel in a matrix, while working in a fast paced team based work environment is critical.

    • The ideal candidate will also possess strong leadership and analytical skills.

    • In addition, an understanding and knowledge of legal EHS requirements including OSHA/EPA requirements is required.

    • The Physical scope of this position will be onsite with minimal travel (up to 10%).

    Responsibilities:

    • Provides leadership and builds partnership at site across all levels of the organization to foster EHS culture improvement with strategic action plans

    • Maintain and understanding and knowledge of legal EHS requirements of OSHA/ EPA regulatory compliance with Federal, State and Local regulations.

    • Provides guidance to all employees to ensure adherence to company EHS Procedures and Standard Practices.

    • Works on cross-functional projects that interface with other groups, external to and within the core EHS team.

    • Ensures timely risk assessments and adequate controls for EHS processes.

    • Assists in the identification of Health & Safety hazards and the development of controls to mitigate risks including ergonomic improvements.

    • Conduct EHS audits; audit compliance to Carrier policies and procedures and regulatory requirements; maintain and improve environmental regulatory compliance initiatives; evaluate effectiveness of EHS programs

    • Manage worker's compensation program including claims management, and return-to-work coordination.

    • Works closely with site's facility management services to ensure EHS compliance.

    • Provides timely information and guidance to the site leadership team, and site EHS council, including EHS performance trends and root cause corrective actions for injuries and near misses.

    • Drives action plans to meet and exceed aggressive EHS goals.

    • Develops and implements EHS programs, processes and training to support regulatory requirements and best practices.

    • Determination and implementation of environmental sustainability initiatives to minimize water use, greenhouse gas generation, hazardous waste generation and increase recycling rate.

    Qualifications:

    • BA/ BS degree in Environmental Safety and Health or related degree/ 5+ years' experience

    • Recognized Certification in Environmental, Safety or Health, Risk Management such as CIH, CSP, etc. (Desirable, but not required)

    • Strong leadership, organization and project management skills

    • Experience in leading a team, as well as proven ability to work effectively in a team environment

    • Ability to communicate effectively with and work with all levels of the organization and external agencies

    • Demonstrated understanding of standard EH&S reporting methods and metrics

    • Demonstrated success in leading and implementing site and/or corporate EH
