  • The Team

    We are seeking a Senior Accountant to join American Tower's U.S. Tower division's Technical Accounting team. The Technical Accounting team acts as a liaison between various Finance department groups and our Mergers & Acquisitions ("M&A") team. This includes understanding the M&A pipeline, new contracts, and strategic business activities and providing periodic updates on these topics to the M&A team. The Technical Accounting team also supports operational teams by providing accounting research and guidance over areas they are responsible for including fixed assets, lease accounting, revenue recognition, acquisitions and divestitures, while ensuring adherence to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles ("GAAP") and internal accounting policies. Day to day you will assist with monthly financial close activities, including journal entry preparation, account analysis, and balance sheet reconciliations to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.

    What You Can Offer Us

    • Work with key stakeholders to identify, research, and report to U.S Tower Finance departments on agreements and transactions and their expected accounting treatment.

    • Support purchase accounting for all U.S. acquisitions.

    • Work closely with Corporate Accounting to remain current in relation to all GAAP developments relevant to the Company's financial reporting and manage the implementation of any new pronouncements.

    • Support (as required) the corporate office and international operating businesses with U.S. GAAP and accounting policy analyses and advice.

    • Ensure compliance with internal control policies and procedures related to M&A and purchase accounting team activities.

    • Assist with driving accounting close and reporting improvements and efficiencies by recommending modifications to accounting systems and procedures.

    • Other duties as assigned.

    What You Need to Succeed

    • Bachelor's degree required.

    • CPA candidate strongly preferred.

    • Between 2-3 years of public accounting experience required.

    • Experience analyzing and interpreting accounting standards strongly preferred.

    • Lease accounting experience strongly preferred.

    • Oracle or similar ERP with lease administration experience a plus.

    • Approximately 10% travel may be required in support of the position's responsibilities.

    • Strong organization, planning, and project management skills; ability to prioritize tasks for self and team to meet requirements and deadlines.

    • Strong written and oral communication skills, including the ability to present ideas and suggestions clearly and effectively.

    • Ability to work with different functional groups and levels of employees to effectively and professionally achieve results.

    • Strong organizational skills; ability to accomplish multiple tasks within the agreed upon timeframes through effective prioritization of duties and functions in a fast-paced environment.
