Responsibilities
Overall Responsibilities:
Serves as Program Manager for innovative ed tech software implementations and related client work focused on bringing equity, excellence, and education recovery to school districts. Leads Mission Control overseeing approximately 15 Projects with varying degrees of interdependence and Program Partners. Manages finances for an overall Program spend of $8-20mil. Ensures that partners are aligned, P&L are maintained, and that Project Managers execute their work according to best practices.
Ensures that projects are delivered successfully and that they are aligned with project management best practices. Contributes hands-on effort, training and support of project leads, and work with the Education Practice Area's Project Management Office (PMO) to implement standardized project management practices.
Specific Responsibilities:
Drive operations to meet strategic goals set by company managers and school district leaders
Ensure the strategic balance between resource allocation to competing projects
Oversee the implementation of project management best practices related to:
Project Planning
Scope Management (change requests, overseeing requirements)
Time Management (schedules)
Cost Management (budget, costs, and pricing)
Quality Management (metrics, strategy, and testing)
Communications Management (reporting and escalations)
Risk/Issue Management
Stakeholder Management
Systems Development Lifecycle
Monitor projects to ensure that they meet or exceed objectives
Provide project management support and guidance to consultants responsible for delivering Client work
Ensure that company managers are engaged to resolve resource constraints and any project issues
Oversee the development of internal and external high-level executive reports
Provide after-hours support and travel, as required
Qualifications
Required Skills:
Prior experience in multiple organizations leading multi-project technology implementations
Prior experience chartering, staffing, budgeting projects from inception
Strong organization and critical thinking -able to plan work efficiently and manage delivery within set budget/time limits and other constraints
Keen attention to detail - able to ensure that tasks are delivered as defined
Excellent ability to effectively communicate and influence outcomes with project teams
Experience within the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and/or new IT Product Development, preferably within the Education Technology domain
Strong written communication skills, able to be presented to Clients with minimal review
Strong oral communication skills, able to interact with senior leaders comfortably and appropriately
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (preferably with Project, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio)
Proficiency with common Project Management Tools: Smartsheets, JIRA, etc.
Prior experience applying Project Management concepts, practices, and procedures (I.e., Project Management Institute's ten Knowledge Areas)
Project Management Certification (PMP) valued or equivalent experience
Required Experience:
15+ years of work experience in the public and private sectors
10+ years of experience in Project Management - managing projects and project managers
Prior experience managing projects, programs, or departments greater than $10million, including responsibility for P&L
5+ years of experience in a Client-facing role, interfacing with Senior Executives
Knowledge of technology solutions (preferred: data services, digital credentials, digital wallets)
Passion for excellence and equity in K-12 education
Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent) in a related field
